RDPY Wheatie
x
RRLM Wheaten
02/06/09 03/01/09

Update: 03/06/09 Wheatie lost her beloved sister Cinny to the childbirth process last night. Wheatie is depressed but doing ok. Her babies are fine. I am also very depressed as I love Cinny beyond words.

Wheatie's two little girls are growing fast and today I discovered to my delight that one of them is a marked rattie! She is hooded! I'm so excited about this because this is my first dwarf with an actual marking on it and not a solid color!

I will rebreed Wheatie again after she weans these for those of you anxiously waiting to acquire sable or wheaten burmese. Hang in there, they are coming! I just have to make sure I get future breeding stock first or I won't be able to continue offering dwarfs in the future.

Trying to get Wheaten or Sable Burmese is a primary goal of mine over other pairings.

Breeding back to California stock for superior genetics for my dwarf line. Trying to reproduce the unique coloring of the Wheaten Burmese and keep the large size eyes and short turned up noses that are superior conformation.

Both Wheaten and Wheatie are extremely gentle and friendly, inquisitive and outgoing, thus demonstrating excellence in temperament as well! Babies from this pairing will be outstanding.

Available the second week in April.

RDPY The Lone Ranejer
x
RDPY Pea Pod
02/26/09 03/22/09 Update: 03/28/09 Surprise of the great kind! Ranejer has a lilac female with a MASK! A good quality one too! Keeping, keeping! LOL. :>)

Update: 03/25/09 Ranejer has seven ratlets. Or should I say "piglets." Six of the babies are gigantic! There is one little female runt. There are three males and four females. A couple have snip blazes. One is variegated. It appears a couple of them will be Russian blue and a couple are a lighter shade, hard to tell yet what color they will be.

Update: 03/22/09 Ranejer had her babies today. Right on schedule. I counted seven of them, but will do a thorough inspection in a day or two.

This breeding is to expand my marked and masked line to continue working with the pretty and rare color of Lilac. Raneger has excellent rounded ears, nice size eyes and a nice nose with little overbite.
Click here to see Ranejer's darling, and gigantic big babies! She must be feeding them Miracle Grow or something, lol!

RDPY Shimmering Blu
x
RDPY Dancing Star
03/01/09 03/23/09 Update: 03/28/09 It appears all of Shimmers babies will be black and white. There is one that may be American blue or lilac. A male, I will be keeping him. There are a couple variegated, capped, barebacks and several Berkshires. Looks like Mother Nature didn't cooperate with any more Pearl Merle's. :<(

Update: 03/25/09 Shimmer had eleven babies. There are seven males and three females. All the females are standard coat, more than half of the males have rex coats. All appear to be American or Russian blue. It's still too soon to tell. Their markings and coloring are still not in yet.

Update: 03/23/09 Shimmer is having her babies. She has nine so far. She is having a very easy time with the births this time. She's keeping up with them, cleaning them off, seems to have plenty of energy and they are already nursing! Plus she seems to understand what they are and what to do including not stepping on them! She seems to be able to tell when she is and also seems to respond to their cries when she steps on and removes her foot immediately. She is being the dotting Mom! I'm so proud of you Shimmer! I'm so glad I gave you a second chance to be a Mom! You are a natural!

Update: 03/30/09 Bandit has fifteen squeakers! There are eight boys and seven girls. So far she is feeding all of them and has not culled any. I sure hope she continues to care for them.

RDPY Pooh's Lil' Blessing
x
RDPY Pooh
03/06/09 03/30/09 Update: 04/01/09 Pooh has seven girls and three boys, which is excellent considering most of my reservations are for females! Yeah!

Update: 03/31/09 Blessing has squeakers! There were eleven. One appears to have been accidentally suffocated, so now she has ten.

Update: 03/20/09 I'm not seeing any real clear signs of pregnancy yet so I've left Pooh in with Blessing for another week to be sure.

This is a line breeding. To preserve the beautiful Russian blue coat and blazed facial markings. Also to keep the good size eyes, nice rounded ears and shorter noses displayed in both ratties.
Click here to see Blessing's Darling (and I do mean darling with a captial D!) babies! These are some of the most beautiful ratlets I've ever had since I've been breeding!

RDPY China Doll
x
RDPY Fuzy Wuzy
03/06/09 03/31/09 Update: 04/13/09 Pictures of the litter are posted! Enjoy!

Update: 04/09/09 I guess the joke really is on me! I count thirteen babies. Eight females and five males. Many are rexes so I'm waiting to take pictures until their fur comes in more.

Five are marked ratties! Mismarked beige hooded. These could be marked Siamese or marked black eyed Siamese. Mr. Unique, Fuzy's Father comes from marked lines, so this marking is a recessive trait.

Update:04/01/09 April Fools! The jokes on me. She really had fourteen Squeakers! There are ten females and four males! This is such a good thing considering most of my reservations are for females, lol.

Update: 03/31/09 China has nine little sqeakers!

Update: 03/27/09 China is showing signs of pregnancy! I will try to fill reservations for Doll's litter with China's instead. They would have looked identical.

Update: 03/20/09 I'm not seeing real clear signs of pregnancy yet so I've left Wuzz Wuzz in with China for another week.

Expecting all blacked eyed Siamese Rex Dumbos.

RDPY The Red Eye Express
x
RRLM Bug-a-Boo
03/13/09 04/04/09 Update:04/14/09 When I went to take pictures today I could only find five babies! I haven't a clue what happened to the other little boy. I searched high and low. Something must have happened. Maybe she stepped on one and then eventually disposed of it...so bummed because it was a Siamese. :>(

Update: 04/08/09 Today was the first day Express left her nest. I tried enticing her with treats, but she wouldn't budge.

She has three females and three males. She has a black rex velveteen female and a black standard coat female and a black standard coat male. She has one light colored female and two light colored males. I'm thinking they will all be Siamese. I was hoping for a BES, but I'm not sure that's what I'll get, lol. Some have dumbo ears but I don't want to say for sure how many as it's really hard to tell at this age being they are so tiny.

Update: 04/04/09 Express has six itty bitty little squeakers.

Update: 03/29/09 Yes, Express is getting a baby bump! Yeah!

Update: 03/27/09 I think Express might be preggers. She seems bigger than last week. I'll leave Boo in with her one more week to be sure.

Update: 03/20/09 I'm not sure if Express is preggers or not but I haven't seen her come back into heat so I'm hopeful.

Update: 03/13/09 Express was in heat upon pairing today.

Expecting all black dwarfs. Standard and dumbo ears possible.

An outcross to California stock from Hemmi's side back to Bug-a-Boo. Trying to keep the gigantic size eyes and shorter noses displayed with Bug.

Available the third week in May.
RRLM Hemmi
x
RRLM Wheaten
03/13/09 04/07/09

Update: 04/24/09 Hemmi has blessed me a darling black eyed siamese dumbo dwarfie daughter! So now I will have a part of her to remember her by. She is so healthy and full of energy I know she'll be with me a long time though! I wish everyone in the whole world could get to know my Hemmi, hold her and get licky kisses from her. There isn't a heart she couldn't melt.

Update: 04/08/09 Hemmi ended up having eight babies but must have stepped on one. Now there are seven like I originally thought. She has three females and four males. They are all light colored, so I'm hoping for BES or Wheaten Burmese.

Just to give you an idea of what's like living with my crazy little Hemmi. I put her up on a card table where I cut fabric for my hammocks. I gave her treats and a box to hide in while I examined her babies. The next thing I know she's running across the floor. She straddled the leg of the table and down she came, knowing no fear and as agile as a acrobat. I called her name and she ran right up to me so I could pick her up, licky kisses of appreciation soon followed because she had "found me." LOL. I love this little squirt beyond words! :>)

Update: 04/07/09 I just helped my little Hemmi bring two of her babies into the world. They were coming one right after another and she was having a hard time keeping up. I broke the cord on two and help cleaned them off and get them breathing. She has a total of seven! If she doesn't step on any and has milk to provide I'm hoping seven will remain. I've given her plenty of proteins to help replenish her system, including a chunk of hard boiled egg, a small cooked chicken drumstick, a carrot and a strawberry.

I'm really surprised she had this many being she is over a year old now. Her biggest litter was seven so this is as big of a litter as any she's had so far. I think the high numbers might be because she loves Wheaten so much. They just "connect" in a special way.

Update: 03/29/09 Hemmi does show the signs of a baby belly! I'm so excited! Way to go Hemmi, you sweet little crazy bundle of kissy licky fur!

Update: 03/27/09 I don't think Hemmi is preggers. I will keep Wheaten in with her one more week until I have to use him to rebreed with Wheatie, but I don't think this pairing will produce any more rittens. :>(

Update: 03/20/09 I really haven't seen any signs that Hemmi has been in heat and she and Wheaten are very contented with each other. Once I'm sure she can't have any more children I may allow both of them to live out their lives together because they are so happy with each other.

Update: 03/13/09 I put Hemmi in with Wheaten today. Even though she's not in heat she is snuggled right up to him. He is her first and only love. She is so happy to be back with him. She seems relaxed and content. This is rattie love at it's best. :>) I'm hoping for a BES or Burmese from this pairing.

Way to go Wheatie! She is so friendly. She came right off her nest to see me and get a chunk of banana, red grapes and watermelon, plus give me kisses too! :>)

Update: 04/24/09 Wheatie is very preggers! :>) I can hardly wait!

Update:04/04/09 They are in together. Wheatie has not come into heat yet.

The masked rattie is a female, I'll be keeping her! LOL. There are several capped and barebacks too. Quite and interesting litter. There is one runt male. I hope he makes it. I may remove some of the larger ones out for a couple hours a day to allow the runt a chance. Some of the larger ones are real moo-moos! Hogging all the milk I see, lol!

Update 06/22/029 It appears Star has thirteen little squeakers. There is a masked rattie! And a lot of really neat colors and markings showing up! Star appears to have a superior reasoning ability to any rattie I've seen to date. She has divided her babies into three little groups of equal numbers. And she goes to each group one by one and feeds and cleans them! It's the neatest thing I've ever seen a rattie do! Wow how smart is that? :>)

Update: 06/19/09 Star is having her babies! Seven and counting! It's so nice to hear the sound of squeakers!

RDPY Gellie Bellie
x
TMCC Warner
08/22/09 09/21/09 Update: 10/13/09 It appears I have seven satin or harley coated babies from this litter. Several breeders are working to help me figure out what I really have as they aren't rex rats, but are some rex related gene. One error was found in a part of their pedigree and it's possible there are others too. This would explain how I could get anything that looked like a rex when I breed two standard coat rats together. Ratties and mama continue to do good. Gellie is teaching them to drink from the big water bottle. Their fur is coming in nice and plush on my mystery "rex/harley/satin" rats. They look like little rugs, lol!

Update: 09/29/09 There are six females and five males. There are seven rexes, three babies have dumbo ears, and a whole lot of different colors! What a rainbow!

Update: 09/22/09 Gellie had eleven little eppers. Mama and babies are doing great. She is healthy, happy and providing lots of milk. There wasn't any difficulties with the birthing process and she is being a good and responsible Mother. She is not too possessive and has remained her friendly little self, lol.

There are five females and six males. There are three dumbos the rest are standard ear. It's too soon to tell the color or markings.

This was a special breeding I did to create dwarf carriers for Sterling's line. Sterling's daughter died of a cancerous tumor. The dwarf gene is resistant to all forms of cancers because of the lack of a growth hormone. It's a theory that by introducing this gene into a line with cancer it can reduce and in time eliminate it.

I'm testing this theory as Sterling's line is very precious to me and I don't want to see what happened to Shimmer happen with any other of his offspring. Later I will breed some of these babies back to a dwarf to reinforce this gene.

I'm not necessarily trying to get dwarfs or turn Sterling's line into a dwarf line, but I will get dwarfs upon my next attempt. I want to get as much of the dwarf gene within the genetics without completely getting nothing but dwarfs.

I will keep everyone posted on the results of this testing as the years progress. If the theory holds true this might offer hope to other breeders seeing a high frequency of mammary tumors in their lines. Mammary tumors are the most common tumor afflicting pet rats and I would love to eliminate this from all our pets.
All babies from this litter are now reserved!

Their individual pictures are now posted for your viewing pleasure, lol. :>)

10/08/09 10/31/09 Update: 11/03/09 There are six girls and three boys!

Update: 10/31/09 6:36pm Sabreena has ten eppers! Update: 10/31/09 4:20pm Sabreena is having her babies. I've counted at least eight so far. Mama and babies are doing well. She is so friendly! When I opened the lid of the birthing unit to peak in she came off her nest to say "Hi" and take a nutritious treat. Usually they are more interested in their babies she was more interested in me!

Update: 10/25/09 Sabreena is showing a baby bump and is getting big!

Update: 10/08/09 I was going to use Splashes of Mist to pair with Dazzle but decided to use Sabreena instead as her eyes and ears are much nicer than her Mothers. Sabreena looks almost identical to her Mother except for better conformation and she's really sweet and cuddly too!

Expecting all Russian Blue and Russian Silver Agouti dumbos. I wanted to breed Mist one more time before it was too late, as her color is very rare and I wanted to work to preserve it. These colors are very popular so if you like the colors and markings of these ratties get your reservations in early.

10/08/09 10/31/09 Update: 11/03/09 There are three girls and one boy.

Update: 11/03/09 I've made an error! When Blessing only had four babies I started to wonder if I had taken her Mother for breeding instead of her, being her Mother would be close to a year old the litter would have been about this size. So I started to conpare pictures on file and sure enough I do believe this is Pooh's Lil' Blessing and not her daughter Blessing's Bliss. Their size and blazes on their faces are so similar it was hard for me to tell when I went to the cage to select them. I will add Bliss to my 2010 breeding schedule. I'm kinda of glad I got one last litter out of her Mother though before I retire her.

Update: 10/31/09 6:37pm, Bliss only had four little ones. Kinda of disappointing, but I'm glad everyone is healthy. Update: 10/31/09 4:47pm Bliss is having her babies. I've counted four so far. Interesting that Bliss and Sabreena were in heat at the same time and are giving birth within an hour of each other. Dazzle must have been one very busy guy to breed them so close together! Kudos Dazzle!

Update: 10/25/09 Bliss is showing a baby bump!

Update: 10/08/09 They are in together! Expecting all Russian Blue dumbos, some Berkshires and some with blazes. This pairing is already filling up. This color is very popular so if you like this color rattie get your reservations in early.

10/08/09 11/02/09 Update: 11/03/09 Bessy has three girls and eight boys! No harley's unfortunately. It's to soon to tell if any will be merles.

Update: 11/02/09 Bessy has eleven babies! I'm so glad she is all right! I was massaging her belly this morning and it felt mushy, so I thought something had gone wrong because it was very firm yesterday! Hearing the sound of squeakers was the happiest sounds I could have heard!! I can't even explain how sweet my little Bessy girl is! She is such a snuggler! I hope they have their Mom's great personality!

Update: 10/31/09 Bessy is very preggers and should be having them any minute!

Update: 10/08/09 I am removing Copperpod away from Ranejer and substituting Abbess instead. Ranejer is not taking or is unable to carrying them full term for some reason. She just turned a year old so I'm going to retire her. Abbess has turned into this beautiful rattie, that is actually looking like a torti shell cat does, three different colors. I'll add some pictures of how beautiful she's become to her profile page

Update: 09/12/09 They are in together and Ranejer is in heat upon their pairing.

Hoping for masked or uniquely marked dumbo ratties in the colors of mink and lilac. Hoping for Dalmatians in these colors. Remote possibility of dwarfs as both carry the gene. Ranejer and Copperpod both have excellent conformation. Trying to preserve their nice noses and rounded ears.

10/08/09 11/02/09 Update: 11/03/09 has four girls and seven boys!

Update: 11/03/09 I love it when I'm wrong! Ha! :>) Bless had her babies late last night. She had some issues with the process though. She wasn't cleaning them off or chewing their cords away. I had to cute several this morning. She also didn't build a nest and had them here and there. But this morning she seems to have them all in the corner and is settling into the mothering process. I know there are at least six of them, possibly nine but I don't want to bother her too much as she seems so dazed and confused, lol.

Update:10/31/09 Bless is showing a baby bump but I don't think she took on the first cycle like several of the other ones. I expect her due date to be a week or so behind everyone else's.

Update: 10/08/09 They are in together! Hoping for American blue, Russian doves, Russian blue, and Russian silver. Maybe some merles. Some rexes, all dumbo ears. Some blazes expected.

RDPY The Long and Winding Road
10/28/09 11/27/09 Update: 12/21/09 Doll's little girl did not make it. She did something very stupid, she tried to climb the outside of the running wheel and got lodged at the top where there wasn't enough clearance and was smothered. It's one of the saddest things I've ever witnessed. It must have happened during the night, Mom must have been running on the wheel when it happened. In my almost eight years of breeding I've never seen anything tragic like this, just goes to show it doesn't matter how long you've been breeding you still haven't seen it all.

Update: 12/09/09 Doll has one girl and two boys. All are hooded. All are Wheaten Burmese.

Update: 11/30/09 Doll had four babies but smothered one by accident. The remaining three appear to be doing good and her pregnancy went smoothly this time.

Update: 11/20/09 Doll is showing signs of being pregnant. I hope things go smoothly for her this time. If she has a small litter like last time, (4) I'm not sure I'll have anything available. We'll have to see. Being my other dwarfie's are not taking. I might end up coming all of them.

This litter should produce all hooded Burmese, it's also possible to get Wheatens and even a BES. I'd really like to get a litter of "marked" dwarfs that I could use to work toward getting masked or Dalmatians as time progresses.

10/22/09 12/08/09 Update: 12/29/09 There is one girl and two boys. The girl is a Wheaten Burmese just like her Mom and one of the boys is a black eyed Siamese like his Dad and the other is a regular Siamese. I will be keeping the BES boy and the girl. I will make the second boy available to pair up with one of the boys from Doll's litter. Contact me asap if you want this pair of dwarf boys!

Update: 12/10/09 Well, today there are three. They all have milk bellies. I hope she will at least leave me with one little baby of hers to love. I loaded her up with all kinds of yummy treats, turkey, carrots, banana, grapes hoping she'll want to eat those rather than snack on her little ones...sigh.

Update: 12/09/09 My sweet little Wheatie surprised me with four little premies! The tiniest little babies I've ever seen. Only two inches long and a half inch wide. All four together would not have made up one standard size baby.

As of this morning three had still survived. When I looked at them last night I noticed one did not have a milk belly. For whatever reason it wasn't nursing. This morning it was gone.

I was surprised that Wheatie was able to conceive let alone had four babies being she's almost one and a half years old and beyond breeding age.

Even though they are premature they appear to be fully developed. I'm very grateful to have them and hope at least one of the premie's will be strong enough to make it.

Expecting all black eyed Siamese.

11/26/09 12/20/09 Update: 01/06/10 OMG! I think I have double rexes that might even be hairless ratties in this litter! No doubt tracing back to RH lines because he does hairless. Gosh that's funny to me. They are so darn cute I burst out laughing just to see them. Their ears are so big they look like they could fly away! I'll post individual pictures soon!

Update: 12/23/09 There are five boys and two girls. Most look to be American blue or Russian blue! There might be one black and one PEW.

Update: 12/21/09 Shimmers has had her squeakers. She has them buried somewhere at the bottom of the shredded bedding. I'm giving her her privacy for a couple of days, then I'll try to fish them out and do a head count and gender count. She is being an overly protective Mother, so I'll respect that as not to panic her.

Update: 12/10/09 Shimmers is showing signs of being preggers and she is moody to prove it,lol! She's started building a nest and if Dancer came anywhere near it she'd leap out at him and make him back off. I think she had hoarded all the food in the corner by the nest and wasn't letting him get any. I removed him today noticing he had been losing weight. I've never seen a female act so defensively toward a male as her time is growing near. Poor Dancer!

I gave him extra treats and he's resting peacefully by himself and happily munching away on his own "hoard" of food! :>)

Should get American blues and Russian blues! Also hoping for merles. Possible markings of capped, bareback and variegated in American blue, Russian blue and black. Some rex fur, some standard, all will have dumbo ears.

11/19/09 12/25/09 Update: 01/06/10 I have what I think might be a first of anywhere in the country. I have two capped merle rats! A boy and a girl. The boy's merling is very noticeable, the girl just has one dark spot on her face. I think this is the first case of merling on a marked rat that I know of! I'm very excited!

Update: 01/05/10 Giving some of Sommers babies to Bliss turned out to be a good decision. The little runts that I didn't think would make it are doing good and are growing and catching up with everyone else. Everyone appears to be happy and healthy!

12/30/09 Sommer seems much more mellow and relaxed since she doesn't have the extra responsibilities of all those babies and now has enough food stations for everyone.

Update: 12/29/09 There are eleven boys and three girls. One of the boys is not doing good and probably will not make it. It appears she might have stepped on him as his heart area looks bruised. He's tiny, very cold and under weight, though he did have a milk belly.

Several are very tiny, therefore I'm going to give Bliss five of the smallest ones. This will leave Sommer with nine and Bliss with nine. Plenty of food stations to go around. I will be able to tell them apart because all of Bliss's babies have blazes on their faces.

Update: 12/25/09 Awwwww...I'm totally blessed! Sommerset has given me Christmas babies! The first time I've ever had babies born on Christmas day! They were definitely worth waiting for. She had fourteen of them! What a great gift of life. She is sitting on them and they are squeaking away. All have milk bellies.

Update: 12/21/09 Yeah! Sommerset is going to have squeakers! She's just started getting a baby belly the last few days!

Update: 12/10/09 I don't know what's happening with Sommerset. This is the second time I've tried to breed her and she is not taking. She is not looking preggers. She appears healthy. She appears to like Sparkle. I left him in with her for another week. I've got her by a window so she can get extra light. I know sometimes the lack of sunlight this time of year keeps them from wanting to produce babies as it's instinct to sense they wouldn't survive this time of year if she was in the wild.

Hoping for American blue, Russian doves, Russian blue, and Russian silver. Maybe some merles. Some rexes, all dumbo ears. Some blazes possible.

12/03/09 12/26/09 Update: 12/30/09 Bliss has accepted Sommer's five babies as her own. The smaller ones are showing improvement already! Bliss is a really laid back rattie. She does not seem fazed in the least by the extra mouths to feed.

Update: 12/29/09 There are two boys and two girls.

Some of Sommers babies are very small therefore I've given Bliss five of Sommers babies to care for. This can be tricky and I hope it works out ok. I took out all of her babies including some of her shredded bedding and put the five babies from Sommers in with hers into a bonding pouch for fifteen minutes. Then I put all of them back including the bedding from the nest which I hope has now gotten the scent all over the new babies and she'll accept them as her own.

Update: 12/26/09 Bliss has four squeakers. I'm not sure why her litter was so small, but I'm glad to have them!

Update: 12/21/09 Bliss is showing signs of being preggers. We'll keep our fingers crossed.

11/26/09 12/30/09 Update: 01/06/10 There are a couple really nice masked ratties, some with spots over their eyes, and Dalmatians. Very cute! Their fur is still coming in. I'll take pictures as soon as their markings are more clear. I know I've got people chomping at the bit to see them, sorry for the delay!

Update: 12/31/09 There are seven girls and four boys! Yeah, finally some girls, lol!

Update 12/30/09 Bandi had eleven darling little squeakers waiting for me when I woke up this morning. She is such a friendly rattie. Came right off her nest to say "hi" and let me count them.

Update: 12/29/09 Bandi still is getting big but I'm not sure why she hasn't had them yet. I hope everything is ok. I'll try to think positively!

12/21/09 I think Bandi is preggers and will have them by the end of the week!

Update: 12/10/09 Not sure if Bandi is preggers or not. I've left Bandit in with her another week to keep her company.

Note: I no longer take reservations for dwarfs as the litters are small and I never know how many of what gender will be available. If anything is available from my dwarf pairings they will be posted on their litter page and people can reserve them on a first come first serve basis.

I will be doing deliveries downstate to my Mom's in East Lansing on the following dates:

Saturday February 6th 2010 11am-6pm
Sunday February 7th 2010 11am-1pm

To Mapquest her approximate location and distance put: 16400 Upton Rd, East Lansing Michigan 48823. I will provide her exact address when final arrangements are made.

I'm requiring a 5 dollar delivery fee be added for each ratlet I transport down state, this is to cover my gas to and from. So if you are receiving a pair of rittens the total would be 40 per pair to deliver them downstate. (The cost is only 30 if you come to my location to pick them up.)

I try to divide the gas costs fairly between all interested parties so I don't burden just one person with the cost of gas. This has worked out very well in the past. :>)

Upon completing arrangements for pickup each person will be scheduled in a time slot one hour a part from each other. This is because I give one on one attention to each and every person, answering questions, showing proper handling and bonding procedures and going over proper care and health topics.

I take this extra time because I want to make sure my fur kids and their new owners will be contented with each other and my little ratlets will continue to thrive in their new environments. I'm not just doing this to promote rats as pets, I'm doing this to educate the public on proper care and handling of this unique animal too. They are very intelligent creatures and have feelings and emotions much like a two year old human child. They are not like hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and rabbits, they are friendly and social, and interact and bond with their owners much like dogs do. They can get EXTREMELY attached to their human friends if given the right environment.
