My Rattery Breeding Schedule for 2014

(Note: I'm using frames for my web pages. The top frame that displays my logo can be moved upward out of the way to allow for more viewing area. Just move your mouse to the edge of the frame and when you see it turn into two arrows just click and drag the frame up and out of the way. :>)

Note: Mother Nature ALWAYS has the final say on my breeding plans. I appreciate everyone's understanding that sometimes things are just out of my hands with supply and demand. Also, breeding pairs are subject to change, sometimes I add pairs or delete pairs to my discretion based on their health or my time constraints. I've learned from experience that not all pairings will result in litters so I usually add in extra's to assure I have reserve surrogate Mother's available for emergencies.

Please note: I am an older, retired women. I only breed as many litters as I feel I have time for. I normally only breed three-five months out of the year...that hasn't always been the case...but that is my normal standard of operation. Though for some people it might seem like I have a lot of litters planned I don't have human children, school or a job to contend with and have more time to devote to raising my pets properly than most other breeders do. Please take this into consideration when viewing my Breeding Schedule. I can assure you my pets are properly socialized, sweet, healthy and well tempered. You can always check out my Facebook rattery page for the positive feedback I recieve from my adopters.

How to Adopt From Me

You must write me to get prescreened for adoption. Reservations are completed based on when you first wrote me. Gender and quanities may impact how soon I can get your pets to you. Mother Nature can be funny about these types of things. It can take several months to complete your reservation. It's worth the wait but I don't want to have people let down.

(Please note: if you are not going to be able to come to my location to pick up your pets do not submit a reservation for getting on my waiting list.)

When the babies fur comes in (usually eleven to thirteen days) I will take pictures of them and make my selections of which ones I'm keeping. Then I will start to contact those on my prescreen list based on when they first contacted me. Adoptions are always based on if I have enough males or females to complete your request. You may be skipped on my list if there aren't enough of one gender over another.

When the babies are three weeks of age I will take individual pictures of each baby. If you want your own names for them they must be submitted to me by then or I will name them myself. I will no longer "hound" someone to provide a name to me. It's too time consuming.

I adopt out in same gender pairs. When the babies are four weeks old I will send out an invoice from Paypal to prepay for your ratlets, prior to picking them up. (Other payment options may be available if needed.)

I reserve the right to add or delete pairings or cancel a reservation if I feel a rat is not healthy enough or friendly enough for adoption. This would probably never happen, but if it did I would first offer you a alternate choice if one was available, if not then I would refund your money back to you in full.

I also reserve the right to cancel a reservation if I determine an adopters living situation may not offer a healthy or stable environment for my rat children. (An example would be, an adopter repeatedly canceling and rescheduling pickup leaving me hanging and ultimately not being able to come to my location to get their pets.)

RDPY Minky Top
x
RDPY Fuzzy Pancake
03/06/14 03/30/14 Update: 04/01/14 This morning Pancake had her babies in three seperate piles. She had a main nest and another with three in it and another with two. I noticed her go over to the one with three and feed them and clean them but didn't see her go to the one with two. I took all babies out of the nest and checked for milk bellies. All five that were not part of the main nest had no milk bellies or very little. I removed four without milk and put them in with Glory who is producing an abundance of milk. So now Pancake has eleven and Glory ten. A manageable amount for both Mother's to handle.

This is the exact reason why, when I breed I do so with at least two to three other Mother's available to assist.

Update: 03/31/14 There are eight girls and seven boys. Many of the boys look to have rex fur.

Update:03/31/14 Pancake had her babies yesterday morning. There are fifteen of them! She has them in two piles and is rotating feedings. Mama and babies are doing good.

Update: 03/27/14 Pancake is going to have her babies any day now. She is huge!

Updare: 03/20/14 Pancake is pregnant and on track for her due date! Yeah!

Expecting mink blazed, also Berkshires. All with dumbo ears, some rex fur possible.

This pairing is to keep my blazed line going in the color of mink and to keep some rex coats within my lines as well.

RDPY Mountain of Glory
03/06/14 04/01/14 Update: 04/01/14 Glory had her babies early this morning. She has six of them. Mama and babies are doing good. There are five girls and one boy. I have surrogated four of Pancake's kids to Glory as she is producing a lot of milk and her babies had very full milk bellies.

Update: 03/27/14 Glory is getting really big now! Probably will have them the first week in April.

Update: 03/20/14 I saw them breed a week or so ago, but she is still not showing. So can't say for sure if she took or not.

Expecting all black blazed rats. Russian blue blazed also possible. All with dumbo ears.

This pairing is to keep my blazed line going in the color of black blazed which was a new color for this marking last year.

second try

03/20/14
04/14/14 Update: 04/16/14 A total surprise for me this morning. I was cutting out fabric at my cutting table and heard squeaking. My darling Winkly gave birth to six babies! I had noticed someone was building a nest but nothing was in it day before yesterday. I had given up on several of the Mom's as not going to have any babies and put them all back in together. Winkly is a fat rattie so it was hard to tell if she was pregnant or not. I'm so excited she had six babies. There are three girls and three boys. Three are rex rats like their father Anthony. They have some darling markings coming in.

Update: 03/27/14 Nothing to report of this repairing yet. I'm hopeful though.

Update: 03/20/14 After giving Winkly a rest I've paired her back up with Anthony. She is not in heat. She's not too happy with his advances either.

Update: 03/06/14 I don't know what's happening with Winkly, but she doesn't appear to be growing anymore and she hasn't had any babies. I'm waiting another week to decide what to do. I may try rebreeding her to Anthony.

Update: 02/27/14 Winkly should haver her babies this weekend. She is doing good.

Update: 02/20/14 Winkly is pregnant and is on target for having her babies around the first of March. :>)

Update: 02/06/14 Winkly was in heat upon pairing and Anthony did not waste any time getting on top of the situation, LOL! Should be on target for babies to be born 23 days from now. :>)

Expecting black variegated and blazed rats. Some with rex fur. All will have dumbo ears

04/03/14 04/29/14 Update: 04/30/14 Sea had eight babies yesterday. Mama and babies are doing great. She is going to be a wonderful Mother. There are four girls and four boys.

Update: 04/27/14 I'm positive that Sea is pregnant! Yeah!

Update: 04/26/14 Sea appears to be putting on weight. I'm hopeful Wonder still had enough energy to get the job done. He's getting up there in age now. He's healthy though, so I'm hopeful.

Update: 04/03/14 They are in together getting to know each other.

This pairing is to try and keep my oldest/longest lines going. Both these lines trace back to when I first begain breeding and have 23 generations of pedigree behind them.

Second try

04/10/14
05/07/14 Update: 05/10/14 Polly has five babies. Four boys and one girl. Mama and babies are doing good.

Update: 04/26/14 I think Polly is putting on weight. I'm hoping Spotty was able to get the job done. I'll know more next week.

Update: 04/10/14 Polly didn't carry her litter with Lil' Wonder so I'm pairing her with a younger male, my heart rat, Spots of Blessings. I was going to wait to breed him, but he is a big boy and sweet. I'll see if this coupling works.

Update: 04/03/14 Not sure she is pregnant any longer. She doesn't seem to be gaining anymore weight. I'm not sure why they don't carry them full term. Very frustrating to me.

Update: 03/27/14 Polly is starting to get big. She should have her babies by the end of the first week in April.

Update: 03/20/14 I have not seen her breed and not sure she is pregnant. Wonder may be too old to get the job done. I may have to pick a younger male and try again. I'll know in a week or so.

Update: 03/06/14 They are in together!

This pairing is to try and enhance my Dalmatian spots of my lineage.

Expecting Dalmatian and masked, other unique markings. All will have dumbo ears.

Update: 04/26/14 Popcicle doesn't appear to be pregnant. I think Heartland may be too old to want to do the job. I might have to try another male.

Expecting all dwarfs. All black hooded. All with dumbo ears.

This pairing is to keep my dwarf lines going.

I will be keeping this whole litter in order to increase my dwarf lines so that I'll have some for adoption to the general public next season. Thank you for your patience while I increase my breeding parents for future litters.

All Done For The Season!

I Will Resume Breeding in January of 2015 for babies available for adoption in March, April and May!

Understanding my breeding schedule
Terminology for 2014
:

"I am Available" means the ratlet is not reserved by anyone and you may contact me to reserve it.

"All the babies are now reserved" - means people have shown an interest in a ratlet and in many cases have paid for them and are waiting for pickup or delivery though they may still be living at the rattery.

"All the babies have now gone to their forever homes" - means the ratlet is no longer living here and lives with it's new parents.

I will be doing "tentative" deliveries downstate to the Lansing area on the following dates in 2014:

Saturday December 27th from 12-4
Sunday December 28th from 10-2

I'm doing my deliveries from my friends house. Her address is 215 N. Canal St, Lansing MI, 48917 if you want to Mapquest it.

Deliveries downstate are always based on whether I don't have enough local adopters available. Delivery dates will get cancel or rescheduled to new dates if I don't have enough litters, babies or adopters to make the trip.

I'm requiring a 5 dollar delivery fee be added for each ratlet I transport down state, this is to cover my gas to and from. So if you are receiving a pair of rittens the total would be 50 per pair to deliver them downstate. (The cost is only 40 if you come to my location to pick them up.)

With gas prices out of control I try to divide the gas costs fairly between all interested parties so I don't burden just one person with the cost of gas. This has worked out very well in the past. :>)

I need eight reservations to make the trip down state as my gas for the trip at current prices has escalated to 80 dollars round trip. But that's how much it would cost each individual if they had to drive to my location to pick them up, plus the time for the trip there and back, so this really is a wonderful opportunity for those who live in the southern half of Michigan, to get quality pet rats.

Payment for ratties being transported needs to be prepaid before the delivery date. Most people just use Paypal to make the payment and I can send you an invoice from Paypal making it easier for you to make payment.

Any products or supplies you order can be paid with Paypal also as they allow you to use a charge card. Or products can also be paid for in cash upon scheduled pickup. I can bring these items with me downstate to save on shipping costs, you just need to let me know what you want ahead of time. I can also custom make carrying pouches in your favorite colors. These are a highly recommended purchase and you can read more about them at my store link.

Upon completing arrangements for pickup each person will be scheduled in a time slot one hour a part from each other. This is because I give one on one attention to each and every person, answering questions, showing proper handling and bonding procedures and going over proper care and health topics.

I take this extra time because I want to make sure my fur kids and their new owners will be contented with each other and my little ratlets will continue to thrive in their new environments.

I'm not just doing this to promote rats as pets, I'm doing this to educate the public on proper care and handling of this unique animal too. They are very intelligent creatures and have feelings and emotions much like a two year old human child. They are not like hamsters, gerbils, guinea pigs and rabbits, they are friendly and social, and interact and bond with their owners much like dogs do. They can get EXTREMELY attached to their human friends if given the right environment. I help you learn what that environment is.

Getting your pet rats from me is a great value for your money as you'll receive a nice pedigree certificate and a lifetime of email assistance for your pets. I'm always available to assist with any behavioral or medical issues that you have. I always make time for my customers to assure they get all the help they need for the lifespan of the pets they acquire from me. I do not disappear after the sale. Your happiness and your pets happiness is very important to me. :>()

Please note: As a breeder keeping specific babies to enhance my breeding efforts is important. I do my best to reserve and let adopters have the rats they want after I've made my selections but sometimes the markings are still coming in and it's hard for me to determined on my marked lines which ones are really going to work the best to achieve goals like getting an excellent masked rat or a good example of a Dalmatian. Dalmatian spots keep coming in for weeks.

I reserve the right to offer an exchange to a rat or even cancel the transaction due to health or temperament or if I think the rat would enhance my overall goals. This would rarely if ever happen, but it if did I hope people would be understanding of the situation. Thanks.
