|09/16/03||White with black eyes and a couple of distinct spots around eye and leg and on back. Spot is what some would term a "patched" or spotted rattie.||
"I have a soft spot in my heart for you, yes I do, yes I do." I sing that little song to Spot every time I pick her up. She is a very special rattie in my eyes. She has very unique markings and did not get the genetic defect of megacolon that has taken the life of so many of her brothers and sisters. She was the only female from her litter to survive it.
Her personality is excellent. She is active and inquisitive. She is not a cuddly rattie as she is always on the move, but she always has time to stop by and visit and say "Hi," before she is on her way again, off exploring.
|So far her health has been excellent.
UPDATE: I had a tragedy happen to me this past summer. Spot died on July 18th 2004. I took some of my ratties in carrying cases, camping with me. I left them in the car as I went to check out a camp site. I was only gone about ten minutes but the sun came around to that side of the car and into the window. Spot's carry case was the first one closest to the window. She died of heat exposure.
I've never been so bummed about anything in my life. I grieve over her often. She was one of my most favorite ratties. Now I'm very careful about how hot my ratties get and make sure they aren't anywhere, where the sun can make contact with them. A sad, but important lesson learned.
