There is a story behind Stuart. He was originally put up for adoption. The man had already paid me for him and had gone out to the car to get his carrying case to take him home. While he was gone, Stuart came flying across the table and scrambled down my shirt and wouldn't come out. It was obvious that he had gotten very attached to me and did not want to leave with this man. I gave the man his money back and Stuart has stayed with me ever since.
Late in the summer during September Stuart and I went on camping trips together. He loves to sit on my shoulder around the fire pit at night watching the flames dance, just like I do.
Then this pass winter he and his father got into a tangle sending Stuart to the emergency room. To save Stuart's life cost us, almost $700. He is now the most expensive rattie I own. I just had to have another season of camping with him, how can you put a price on love? UPDATE: 03/03/05 Stuart is getting ready to share his third camping season with us. He tells me he can hardly wait, he is tired of being cooped up in the house all day. :>)
UPDATE: 12/04/05 Stuart did get to see his third camping season before he left for the Rainbow Bridge. He had a great life.
|Stuart's general health has been excellent. He lost one of his testicles in a fight with his father Boo Boo. Boo, went right to where it counts, so to speak. Stuart is now neutered and lives with the females, which he doesn't seem to mind one bit :>).
It was very sad about Stuart. He was the rattie who had, had two operations to safe his life. Finally old age caught up with him, he had heart disease and was losing weight. His breathing had been labored for several weeks. He died on 9/17/05.
